Jody Mayfield is a star-studded jazz musician hailing from Atlanta, GA. With a B.A. in Music Technology from Morris Brown College and a Master's degree in Music Technology from Southern Utah University, Jody boasts a formidable educational background. He honed his craft at Clark Atlanta University, majoring in Music Performance.
Jody has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in jazz, including Dizzy Gillespie at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, James Lloyd of Pieces of a Dream, Frank Foster, Grover Washington Jr., and Mary Lou Williams. He has opened for legendary performers like Sarah Vaughn, Dexter Gordon, Wynton Marsalis, Lionel Hampton, Gladys Knight, and Ramsey Lewis.
In addition to his jazz credentials, Jody has collaborated with some of the biggest names in hip-hop, including Jermaine Dupri, Organized Noize, and Marq Jefferson of So So Def Records. He has also worked with actor-comedian Robert Townsend and produced music for film and television, earning the accolade of "Master Musician" from Townsend himself.
Jody's company, JMQ Studios, specializes in music for film and television and he has several successful movie soundtracks to his credit. During the holiday season of 2021, his album "A Jody Jazz Christmas" reached the number one spot on the smooth jazz charts. His latest project, “Doing the Do," has received glowing reviews and is making waves on the music charts. Jody Mayfield is a true superstar in the jazz scene.
